My First Aid Experience by Emily Sides

When I first signed up for first aid, I didn’t know what to expect or what I would learn. I was ready to learn CPR and how to use an AED, but we had to watch videos about the stuff we would practice before we did anything with the manakins or practiced our skills. We learned how to stop external bleeding and how to use an EpiPen we also learned how to remove gloves after dealing with bleeding. We were put into different groups, group A and group B. I was in Group A and my partner was Janaya. When we got into CPR training with the manikins they were kind of creepy but we had to practice with them on CPR/AED and what to do if someone was choking. I was nervous about using an AED for the first time but I told myself to listen to the voice like the teacher was telling me to do. After taking first aid I felt ready to give CPR and use an AED and I got my certificate for certified CPR. I want to inspire other students here on campus to take first aid before graduation so in case there is an emergency at home or at work you know what to do. Make sure when you take first aid, you listen to the teacher and be prepared for any emergency that comes your way in the future.
