Hi, my name is Maggie Youngsma. I just turned 20 years old on December 3rd. I went to high school at Sioux Falls Christian and graduated in 2018. This is my second year that I am attending Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. I’m in the NEXT program, it helps students with disabilities like me to learn more about things in life like finding your career, learning about money, life skills, and all those interesting things. I sure do love it here! I can’t believe 1 year has gone by already. Time flies!
I think the one thing that brought me here to Northwestern is God. Way back in the day when I was still in high school I really wanted to go to North Dakota Bison or SDSU. My Mom explained to me a few times why I couldn’t go. I realized they each did not have the program I was in. To be honest, beforehand I wished God never gave me this disability and I used to hate how He created me. Now I am so happy because I am not going through that struggle anymore. I am in the right place where He led me. I also know that He’s telling me a few things about those 2 colleges I wanted to attend. They have a lot of rules that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with. Which is why I am blessed to be at a Christian community college.
I am a manager for volleyball. I’ve been helping out for 5 years: 3 years here and 2 years in high school. I enjoy helping the team out and coaching so much! Right now we are in the National Championship. We are winning! Let’s hope we win the whole thing! Wouldn’t that be awesome? One of my favorite sports is baseball. I even have a fact about me. I’m adopted and my favorite player is Aaron Judge from the Yankees. He’s adopted and a Christian (haha). My first sport is actually football. I just LOVE the Philadelphia Eagles. They are my favorite team. I have everything of their gear – not joking! Carson Wentz, LOVE THAT GUY!!! He is my inspiration. He loves the Lord, always plays for Him. Every game he does not care if he wins or loses, he always prays and sings gospel hymns when he runs on the field. I want to meet him one day.
