Hi, this is Makenzie Vanderhaar! I am in my second year of the NEXT program. This is my last year at Northwestern College.
Last year I helped manage the women’s soccer team and that was pretty fun. Some of the things I did were: setting up the field for practice, gathering balls, and cheered on the sidelines. My favorite part was watching the games. This year I wanted to try something new, so I helped with the junior varsity volleyball team and that was pretty fun also. Some of the things I helped with were: getting jerseys ready at the beginning of the season, gathering equipment, filling water bottles, keeping track of the player’s statistics, and cheering them on! The junior varsity team has completed their season but the varsity team is playing in the finals! I met some pretty awesome and kind girls on both the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams.
I am living in the same dorm as last year, just in a different room. My roommate is also in the NEXT program, her name is Raema. I have met a lot of nice people from my hall, the soccer team, the volleyball teams, classes and around campus and I am going to miss them a lot when I graduate. I might miss NWC a lot, but I am excited to see what God has in store for the rest of my life after college.
