What’s Next After Graduation?

2021 Women’s Volleyball teams

Hi, this is Makenzie Vanderhaar! I am in my second year of the NEXT program. This is my last year at Northwestern College.

Last year I helped manage the women’s soccer team and that was pretty fun. Some of the things I did were: setting up the field for practice, gathering balls, and cheered on the sidelines. My favorite part was watching the games. This year I wanted to try something new, so I helped with the junior varsity volleyball team and that was pretty fun also. Some of the things I helped with were: getting jerseys ready at the beginning of the season, gathering equipment, filling water bottles, keeping track of the player’s statistics, and cheering them on! The junior varsity team has completed their season but the varsity team is playing in the finals! I met some pretty awesome and kind girls on both the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams.

I am living in the same dorm as last year, just in a different room. My roommate is also in the NEXT program, her name is Raema. I have met a lot of nice people from my hall, the soccer team, the volleyball teams, classes and around campus and I am going to miss them a lot when I graduate. I might miss NWC a lot, but I am excited to see what God has in store for the rest of my life after college.

Why I LOVE College at Northwestern!

Brailey and me!

I love college because I already knew one of the coaches from when my brothers went at Northwestern College!  When I first toured I told my Mom “I love it a lot! I feel like this is my home!” I toured at another College but I wouldn’t go anywhere but here, this is like my home, and my dream College. God knew where I wanted to go.

I love the library because you can get coffee and I love the Hub! I love the campus because the people are so friendly and they help me whenever I need help. I love the campus because I have never gone to college before! I love to walk outside between classes and see people, trees, and fresh air! I like my teachers a lot because they take good care of me when I needed help with my papers, projects, and other stuff. They have amazing food in the cafeteria and drinks! I love the pasta and brownies most!

I really love my new church in Orange City! I go to First Reformed. Adam; my brother, went to church when he was at Northwestern. Adam preached there when he was a student and my Mom and I go every time he preaches. I know Tyler and Rachel go there too! And I love the people there a lot and they know me a lot! And I love the town a lot. I have friends that live in Orange City, Iowa!
